Elegant proportions, perfectly balanced and crafted for everyday brewing, KŌSHUN is handmade by the renowned Gyokko Kiln in Tokoname, Japan's most celebrated pottery region for teapots. Its clean cylindrical profile, finely thrown body and black clay reflect centuries of refinement, where beauty exists in service of brewing exceptional tea.

Crafted from iron-rich Tokoname clay, the unglazed body interacts naturally with tea, gently softening bitterness and bringing greater sweetness and clarity to teas. The medium-sized body provides ample space for tea leaves to unfurl while remaining perfectly suited for daily brewing.

Every detail is made with purpose. The precision-fitted lid creates an excellent seal for controlled pouring, while the handcrafted ceramic filter allows water to circulate freely through the leaves, producing a clean, uninterrupted pour without the need for a metal strainer.

Each kyusu is individually wheel-thrown by the artisans of Gyokko Kiln. The delicate throwing lines remain visible beneath the matte black surface, preserving the movement of the maker's hands. As with all handmade Tokoname ware, every teapot carries subtle variations that make each piece uniquely its own.

Craftsmanship

  • Optimal Flavour: The wide body of this teapot provides ample space for tea leaves to unfurl, ensuring they can release their full, rich flavors with every brew
  • Effortless Pouring: The ergonomic side handle is a hallmark of the kyūsu teapot, designed for a comfortable and stable grip. It allows for a smooth, precise pour, ensuring every drop is perfectly served
  • Built-in Ceramic Filter: The built-in mesh-shaped ceramic filter showcases exceptional attention to detail. It prevents tea leaves and sediment from entering your cup, offering a smooth, clean brew with every pour
