This handmade Shigaraki-yaki teacup carries an amazing mizuiro (water-blue) glaze inspired by Biwa Lake shifts gently between turquoise and smoky indigo. The subtle variations, natural speckles, and flowing glaze marks are all part of its story shaped by hand, finished by flame.
Made in Shigaraki, one of Japan’s oldest pottery regions. Each piece celebrates the raw beauty that Shigaraki ware is known for: earthy clay, organic form, and a slightly uneven rim that feels warm and alive in your hands.
No two cups are ever the same, the glaze & the tones transform uniquely in the kiln, and the texture carries the signature of the artisan.
