This side-handled Japanese Kyusu (急須 Teapot) YAKISHIME handcrafted by the renowned Gyokko Kiln in Tokoname. With over 70 years of history, this family-run workshop has been creating exquisite teapots since its founding by the first generation.
Its wide body allows tea leaves to expand fully, unlocking deeper, richer flavours with every brew. Its high-fired unglazed finish (焼締) that highlights the organic texture of the clay, allowing the teapot to subtly enhance the flavour of your tea over time.
The elongated spout, the built-in ceramic filter and the ergonomic side handle ensure smooth, precise pouring, making it perfect for brewing Japanese teas like sencha or bancha.
Tokoname has a pottery tradition dating back over 800 years to the Kamakura Period. It is one of Japan's six ancient kiln sites, known for its high-quality clay and unique craftsmanship.
Each piece is individually handmade, slight variations in colour, shape, and texture reflect its artisanal character.

How to Care for Your Teapot
How to Care for Your Teapot
1. Wash only with water: never detergent. Ceramic absorbs residues over time, which can affect the flavour of your tea
2. Never put it in the dishwasher: Hand-washing prevents chips and extends its life so this piece can be passed down, not discarded
3. Remove tea leaves once cooled and give the teapot a quick rinse to avoid stains and mold. Turn it upside down to dry faster
