This handmade Shigaraki-yaki teacup features a richly layered glaze where deep charcoal, soft ash, and subtle green tones come together in a landscape shaped by the kiln. The organic transitions, natural speckling, and flowing glaze marks are all part of its story, formed by hand and transformed by fire.
Made in Shigaraki, one of Japan’s oldest pottery regions, each piece reflects the raw beauty the kiln is known for: mineral-rich clay, expressive surfaces, and an organic form that sits comfortably in the hands. The slightly uneven rim adds a quiet sense of movement, making every sip feel natural and unforced.
No two cups are ever the same. The glaze shifts uniquely during firing, the tones deepen in their own way, and the surface carries the subtle signature of the artisan behind it.
