TSUTA - Certified Organic Single Cultivar Aged Sencha from Shizuoka
TSUTA is a rare and contemplative green tea, a study in patience and transformation. Crafted from 1st-flush Yabukita leaves and aged for at least one year, it follows the centuries-old Kuradashi tradition once practised during the Tokugawa shogunate. Through time, the tea’s youthful vitality softens into a mellow depth, revealing layers of quiet complexity and gentle sweetness.
What Makes TSUTA Special
- The Art of Aging: Inspired by Japan’s historic Kuradashi method, TSUTA is carefully stored and aged for over a year, allowing its vibrant spring character to mature into a rounder, smoother and more harmonious flavour
- 1st Flush Purity: Made exclusively from 1st-harvest leaves, the youngest and most nutrient-dense growth of spring, these leaves form the ideal foundation for aging, balancing natural sweetness with refined freshness
- Pioneering Organic Craftsmanship: Grown by a family-run organic farm in Fujieda, Shizuoka, that has been a pioneer in sustainable tea cultivation since the 1970s. Certified organic under the Japanese Agricultural Standards (JAS), every batch is grown with respect for nature’s rhythm and purity
A Tea Shaped by Time
With age, TSUTA’s bright green youth evolves into something deeper and more introspective. The result is a smooth, umami-rich cup with notes of sweet hay, soft umami & a deep vegetal note
An Expression of Balance and Calm
Like time itself, TSUTA invites stillness. Its low astringency and round, comforting profile make it a beautiful companion for reflective moments

FLAVOUR PROFILE
FLAVOUR PROFILE
AROMA
Bold and profound, a deep vegetal note reminiscent of a wet forest
TASTE
Aging turns the sharp grassy taste into a warm and round, almost woody flavour. It also brings out the subtle sweetness and honey-like undertones for a complex and layered finish
HOW TO ENJOY IT?
HOW TO ENJOY IT?
SUTA's bolder profile makes it an excellent choice for green tea lovers who enjoy a deeper, more profound taste. It is best enjoyed by brewing with slightly hotter water to fully release its complex flavours
- Heat Water: Heat up filtered water, cool it down using a water cooler to around 80°C (Using water that is too hot will make the tea bitter)
- Measure Tea: Add 5g (approx. 1-2 teaspoon) of tea leaves per 250ml of water to your teapot
- Steep: Steep for around 1 minute for the 1st infusion. For subsequent infusions, extend the time to 1-2 minutes soothing
- Pour: Pour the tea into your cup (or back to the water cooler), make sure to get every last drop to prevent the leaves from over-steeping.
- Enjoy: It is good to drink on its own or its interesting profile matches amazingly with dark chocolate, creating a delightful and unique tasting experience

To keep your tea leaves fresh, store them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, moisture and odours. Ensure the bag is tightly sealed, and gently press out as much air as possible before closing it
