Takiguchi Kiheji creates pottery in Kukuri Ogaya, Kani City, Gifu Prefecture - a region steeped in natural beauty and history, where Shino and Oribe wares were first fired during the Momoyama period. As a former apprentice of the legendary Master Juemon Kato, Kiheji’s artistry reflects a deep connection to tradition. His works harmonize with nature and echo the spirit of ancient potters, exuding a dignified presence paired with a gentle charm that brings joy to those who encounter them.
This chawan is glazed with the famous Kiseto (黄瀬戸 Seto Yellow), which originated in the area in the 15th century. The warm, yellow-toned glaze is obtained by mixing an opaque glaze with wood ash glaze. It brings out the warm, rustic yet elegant beauty makes it a favourite for tea ceremony utensils.
Each piece is handmade by the artist and every single one is unique.

How to Care for Your Matcha Bowl
Always wash your Matcha Bowl with water only. Detergent might be absorbed by ceramic which can affect tea flavour.
Dish washer is not recommended, hand-washing is the best to clean a matcha bowl.
