SOFU Side-Handle Kyusu - Handmade Tokoname Teapot
Crafted in the historic pottery town of Tokoname, a designated Ancient Kiln of Japan, the SOFU Kyusu (急須) is a perfect balance of function and artistry. Handmade by the renowned Gyokko Kiln, this side-handle teapot is an exquisite piece of Japanese craftsmanship.
Its wide body allows tea leaves to fully unfurl, while the unique Matsugawa (松皮 Pine bark) texture and a beautiful metallic finish, a result of the Yōhen (窯変 Fire kiln transformation), give it a striking and unique character.
The Artistry of Tokoname
- Matsugawa (松皮): The pine bark texture on the body provides a unique feel and visual character, making each piece a one-of-a-kind work of art
- Yōhen (窯変): The striking metal-like color is a natural result of the firing process in the kiln, a phenomenon known as Yōhen. This ensures no two teapots are exactly alike
- Handmade by Gyokko Kiln: With over 70 years of history, this family-run workshop has been creating exquisite teapots. The slight variations in colour, shape, and texture are natural characteristics that highlight the handmade nature of each piece

How to Care for Your Teapot
How to Care for Your Teapot
To keep your teapot in the best condition, wash it only with water and avoid detergent. Ceramic absorb residues which can affect tea flavour.
Skip the dishwasher - Teapot is very delicate, hand-washing is the best way to prevent it from chip and damage.
Remove tea leaves once cooled and give the teapot a quick rinse to avoid stains and mold. Turn it upside down to dry faster.

Love it! The finishing is amazing all made by hand. My fave pot now =)
