Setoguro Handmade Matcha Chawan
Handcrafted by an artisan in Seto, one of Japan’s Six Ancient Kilns dating back to the 1500s, this Chawan embodies centuries of ceramic tradition and quiet refinement.
Its deep black and silvery glaze, known as Setoguro (瀬戸黒), originated in the Seto region during the 16th century and remains one of Japan’s most celebrated iron-rich glazes. The subtle metallic sheen catches light gently, revealing layers of depth and warmth in every viewing.
Formed in the traditional wan-nari (wooden bowl) shape, the bowl features a soft curve that rises gracefully from the foot to the lip. This round, comforting form sits naturally in the hand, providing both visual harmony and an ideal vessel for whisking and enjoying matcha.
Each piece is individually wheel-thrown and hand-glazed, ensuring that no two are ever the same.

How to Care for Your Teapot
How to Care for Your Teapot
To keep your teapot in great shape, wash it with water only - no detergent! Ceramic teapots absorb residues, which can affect tea flavour.
Remove tea leaves once cooled and give the teapot a quick rinse to avoid stains. Turn it upside down to dry faster and prevent mold.
Skip the dishwasher - handwashing is the best way to preserve its beauty and functionality.
