MATSU - Certified Organic Ceremonial Grade Single Cultivar Uji Matcha from Kyoto
Experience the quiet strength and refined grace of MATSU, a certified organic, ceremonial-grade matcha crafted from 100% Saemidori cultivar Tencha, one of Japan’s most treasured tea varietals. Grown in the misty valleys of Wazuka, Kyoto, MATSU embodies the heart of traditional matcha craftsmanship, offering a vibrant green, soft sweetness, creamy texture and a delicately rounded umami finish.
Why You’ll Love MATSU
- Premium Saemidori Cultivar - Renowned for its natural brilliance and gentle taste, Saemidori produces a matcha that is smooth, mellow, & low in bitterness
- First Flush Harvest - Exclusively use 1st spring growth, when young leaves are most tender & nutrient-rich, capturing the purest essence of the season
- Traditional Stone-Milled - Ground slowly on granite mills at just 30g per hour (the equivalent of one tin), preserving colour, aroma, & an exquisite texture
- Certified Organic - Grown under Japanese Agricultural Standards (JAS) organic certification(held by less than 1% of Uji producers), ensuring no synthetic fertilisers or pesticides touch the leaves
Cultivated by a fourth-generation family farm in Kyoto, MATSU is the result of generations of devotion. Each step, from shading the fields for three weeks before harvest to the final slow stone-milling, honours the time-honoured traditions that define Uji tea.
To protect this extraordinary matcha, each tin of MATSU is sealed immediately after milling, locking in its vibrant colour, aroma, and nutritional integrity. Exposure to air, light, and humidity can quickly dull matcha’s brilliance, so our airtight can ensures every serving tastes as fresh and alive as the day it was ground, delivering the true essence of Uji matcha to your bowl.

STORAGE TIPS
STORAGE TIPS
To preserve matcha’s vibrant color and flavour, store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. For optimal quality, enjoy within 1-2 months of opening since colour and aroma naturally fade over time. Refrigeration is not recommended as odours and condensation can compromise quality. A stable, dry environment is the best way to keep your matcha fresh

Thanks for the demonstration and showing me how to find my golden ratio. It’s a next level experience and is fun! Look forward to seeing you again in the markets =)
Came across Poems at our local market and met these lovely tea enthusiasts who introduced me to sipping Matsu matcha straight (I usually have mine with milk!). As promised, the chocolate notes really came through and lingered with a creamy finish. Super enjoyable!
Tried all 3 matcha powder.
Matsu surprised me with a smooth, creamy texture and a subtle milk chocolate note. There’s a nice balance of umami and a gentle sweetness that makes it really enjoyable. It works beautifully on its own as Usucha, but shines even better in lattes. The creaminess and chocolate-like depth really come through.
