A cup shaped by earth, fire and time.
Handcrafted in Shigaraki, one of Japan’s Six Ancient Kilns, this teacup expresses the subtle beauty of natural glazing and kiln transformation. Wheel-thrown from Shigaraki’s mineral-rich clay, it is finished with a pale, milky glaze that gently reveals soft blush and ash-like tones beneath, a result of flame & minerals working together.
The surface carries a fine crackle and flowing colour variations that shift with the light, while the interior remains smooth and inviting. In the hands, the cup feels calm and reassuring making it ideal for everyday tea moments that invite pause.
Each cup is formed and glazed individually, allowing natural variation to emerge during firing. No two pieces are ever the same; each bears its own subtle differences in colour, texture and marking.
