KIRI Matcha Powder is crafted from the prized Okumidori cultivar tencha leaves, renowned for its vibrant colour and natural sweetness and delicate flavour. Its vivid green colour comes from its high chlorophyll content, while the refined taste delivers a smooth mouthfeel.

Our ceremonial-grade matcha is lovingly nurtured by a 4th-generation family tea farm in Wazuka, Kyoto, the heart of UJI matcha production.

Harvested only in the Spring’s 1st flush, the Tencha leaves are carefully shade-grown to boost their amino acid content, then slow-ground using traditional stone mills. These handcrafted granite grinders yield just 30g per hour, preserving the tea’s vivid colour, fine texture, and naturally complex aroma.

Certified organic under Japanese Agricultural Standards (JAS). KIRI is made without synthetic pesticides or additives. Each small batch reflects subtle seasonal variation, which makes every batch truly rare and special.

AROMA: Freshly cut grass, steamed greens with a soft floral note

TASTE: Naturally sweet, gentle vegetal notes, low astringency

Storage Tips

To preserve matcha’s vibrant color and flavour, store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. For optimal quality, enjoy within 1-2 months of opening since colour and aroma naturally fade over time. Refrigeration is not recommended as odours and condensation can compromise quality. A stable, dry environment is the best way to keep your matcha fresh.
