KIKYŌ is a beautiful and refreshing Sencha, made with the Yabukita tea leaves, Japan’s most beloved tea cultivar. Organically grown in the lush hills of Fujieda, Shizuoka, these 1st flush spring leaves are gently steamed, rolled, and dried to preserve their natural sweetness, grassy aroma, and vibrant character.

This tea is an exquisite example of an everyday green tea that is gentle, refreshing, and clean on the palate.

What Makes KIKYŌ Special?

  • Pioneering Organic Farm: We source our tea from a family farm that has pioneered organic farming in the region since the 1970s. Every batch is certified organic by Japanese Agricultural Standards (JAS) and cultivated entirely through natural farming methods
  • The Rare 1st Flush Harvest: Our Sencha is made exclusively from the very first harvest of the spring season. These young leaves are packed with nutrients, a natural sweetness, and a full, vibrant flavor
  • Medium-Steamed for Purity: This tea is a Chumushi-cha (medium-steamed green tea). This steaming process creates a clear, golden-green cup with a soft fragrance and a clean, naturally sweet flavour, allowing the delicate notes of the tea to shine through without bitterness.

HOW TO ENJOY KIKYŌ

This medium-steamed green tea brews into a light, golden-green cup with a refreshing and gentle astringency. We recommend brewing it with care to experience its full, subtle flavour.

  1. Heat Water: Heat up filtered water, cool it down using a water cooler to 70-80°C (Using water that is too hot will make the tea bitter)
  2. Measure Tea: Add 5g (approx. 1-2 teaspoon) of tea leaves per 250ml of water to your teapot
  3. Steep: Steep for around 1 minute for the 1st infusion. For subsequent infusions, extend the time to 1-2 minutes
  4. Pour: Pour the tea into your cup (or back to the water cooler), make sure to get every last drop to prevent the leaves from over-steeping.
  5. Enjoy: This tea pairs beautifully with desserts or on its own

STORAGE TIPS

To keep your tea leaves fresh, store them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, moisture and odours. Ensure the bag is tightly sealed, and gently press out as much air as possible before closing it
