ICHOU is a gently roasted green tea made with the 1st flush Yabukita leaves, Japan’s most beloved tea cultivar. Unlike KIKYŌ, the leaves are steamed, rolled, then dried at a slightly higher temperature, enhancing their natural sweetness and giving the tea a deeper, bolder aroma with a rounder, toasty finish.
It brews into a clear, golden cup with a clean, balanced flavour - natural sweetness with just a touch of astringency.
ICHOU is certified organic by Japanese Agricultural Standards (JAS), and cultivated using only natural methods. Because the environment isn’t artificially controlled, both harvest size and flavour vary each season. The effort required to consistently produce high-quality tea in such demanding conditions makes these leaves truly rare and special.
