A Houhin (宝瓶) is a teapot typically has no handle and smaller in size, allowing for more controlled pouring and a closer connection to the brewing process.
This Houhin made by Takasuke Kiln in Tokoname. Its matte finish gives it a refined elegance, while the gently curved spout ensures a clean & controlled pour. Compact and thoughtfully crafted, this teapot is perfect for 'Tea for one' and travelling. Suitable not only for Gyokuro or Sencha, but also other green teas like Oolong.
Tokoname has a pottery tradition dating back over 800 years to the Kamakura Period. It is one of Japan's six ancient kiln sites, known for its high-quality clay and unique craftsmanship.
Variations in size, glaze, colour, and texture are natural characteristics that highlight the unique, handcrafted nature of each piece.

How to Care for Your Teapot
How to Care for Your Teapot
To keep your teapot in great shape, wash it with water only - no detergent! Ceramic teapots absorb residues, which can affect tea flavour.
Remove tea leaves once cooled and give the teapot a quick rinse to avoid stains. Turn it upside down to dry faster and prevent mold.
Skip the dishwasher - handwashing is the best way to preserve its beauty and functionality.
