This elegant Kyūsu (急須 teapot) is a rare back-handled design, handcrafted by renowned potter Taisen Yamamoto in the celebrated Banko-yaki ( 萬古焼) tradition of Mie Prefecture. With over 300 years of heritage, Banko-yaki is prized for its heat-resistant clay and ability to enhance the natural sweetness of Japanese green tea.

The smooth white glaze flows gently across the body of the vessel, softening its form with subtle tonal variations. Each piece is unique, showcasing the living character of handmade work. The back-handle (ushirode kyūsu) design offers excellent balance in the hand, allowing for graceful and controlled pouring, especially suited to solo tea sessions or mindful preparation.

Inside, a fine clay strainer ensures a clean, even pour, perfect for any kind of tea. The  Banko clay not only strengthens the body but also softens the texture of water, elevating the umami and sweetness of your tea.
