A rare pan-fired green tea from the historic tea town of Ureshino
Kamairicha stands apart from most Japanese green teas because it is pan-fired rather than steamed. Freshly picked leaves are gently heated and tossed in an iron pan at about 400°C, this method preserves the green freshness of the leaf while adding a unique aroma and a fuller body to the tea.
This method was being introduced to Ureshino centuries ago & it is known to be the birthplace of Kamairicha in Japan. Nowadays only a few tea makers remain devoting their craft to keep this traditional technique alive.
The deep colour, strong flavour and aroma are its defining features.
