A rare pan-fired green tea from the historic tea town of Ureshino

Kamairicha stands apart from most Japanese green teas because it is pan-fired rather than steamed. Freshly picked leaves are gently heated and tossed in an iron pan at about 400°C, this method preserves the green freshness of the leaf while adding a unique aroma and a fuller body to the tea.

This method was being introduced to Ureshino centuries ago & it is known to be the birthplace of Kamairicha in Japan. Nowadays only a few tea makers remain devoting their craft to keep this traditional technique alive.

The deep colour, strong flavour and aroma are its defining features.

HOW TO ENJOY IT?

Kamairicha is praised for its strong flavour & aroma. We recommend to re-steep it a couple of times so you can enjoy this tea fully.

  1. Prepare Water: Heat up 250ml of filtered water to 85°C
  2. Add Leaves: Place 3g of tea leaves into the teapot
  3. Steep: For the 1st brew, steep for around 30sec. For the second brew onward, steep for longer
  4. Pour & Enjoy: Pour into your cup and savour its delicate flavour

STORAGE TIPS

To keep your tea leaves fresh, store them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, moisture and odours. Ensure the screw cap is tightly sealed when you close it.
